Looking for input on marketing my Bellyfit Classes

Hi Crew,

I must tell you, I am absolutely in love with this amazing program and would love to have a significant impact on the women in my community.  However in order for me do this I know I can't keep doing what I am doing and to expect a different result.  I realize my area of weakness is definitely in  my marketing.  I need to be a lot more focused and pro active and have to admit that I have had to build up more confidence in the social media platform and physically go out there and let the brand be seen. Wear the brand and share the brand.

I am seriously needing to look at marketing  Bellyfit in South Africa a lot better than what I have done this year and that  in 2017 see Bellyfit Cape Town grow tremendously.  I  have a few new things that I want to do but would like your feedback on what you think may or may not work.

Just to paint a picture for you, I  am sitting with a bit of challenge due to the Rand/Dollar exchange rate.  With the rand being so poor it really ends up being ridiculously expensive for me to order a few  T-shirts and clothing items. I know that templates are not normally sold, but  I chatted to  Alice and she totally understood where I was coming from and was happy for me to communicate this situation to the support team.  I was hoping to purchase one or more templates in order for me to have some shirts made up and in this way start to get noticed by doing some demos that would be fabulous.

So here are a few things I would like to do:

Handing out flyers while wearing our shirts.  Try and see if there are any wellness fairs going on and have a stand with flyers and a bellyfit banner and the short video clippings of what bellyfit is about and perhaps do a demo.

I would love to  get the graphics for a pull up banner of "bellyfit" and "Real is the new sexy".

I need to organize a photo shoot of my few ladies in bellyfit clothing and post them on our FB, I have not done a webpage yet, what are your thoughts on that?  Is the facebook business page enough

Please could you share any other  marketing ideas that others have done in order to really get the Bellyfit name out there.

My journey with bellyfit this year is that  I did have 8 ladies but lost half of them in winter month and most of them went away in holidays and then life seemed to happen and have not come back.  On top of that  my mom was very ill and had close the studio for three weeks, which also did not help with forward momentum of the studio.  I feel like this has been a teething year which is okay but need be more dedicated and of top of my game as I seriously want this to work and be part of this movement.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,
Amanda-Beth Ivey

Hi Mandy

I'll do my best to point you in the right direction regarding the questions/requests you have made. Also I hope that our CREW will pipe in with some added ideas/input into this.

>> Here is a PDF of a banner layout we made a couple years ago. One of the panes has the 'Real is the new Sexy' on it.

>> A photo shoot might be a good idea, but I might suggest that you get great photos of yourself before you worry about getting great photos of 'your' ladies. We can supply you with photos to use for marketing which should do the trick, but good quality and professional photos of yourself are invaluable.

>> I'd suggest creating a Facebook Group rather than a Facebook Business page at this point. We've had a number of 'satellite' FB pages created and we find that generally they are 'overkill' for most people's needs. Groups are much better for reaching your people and creating/interacting with a community. Call it 'Bellyfit with Mandy' or 'Bellyfit with Mandy (Cape Town)' or something like that.

>> I'm not sure its necessary/worth the effort to create a website for your offerings, yet. Unless you're savy with that process and have a very clear idea of the purpose of it and how you will get people visiting the site, I'd suggest against it in the early stages. Creating a website on its own is not going to help you tremendously more than a facebook group at this point I think. Please could you share any other  marketing ideas that others have done in order to really get the Bellyfit name out there.

Hi Mandy!

Thanks for your sharing and trying to get the Bellyfit going for the women of your community in South Africa.

Thanks Rowan for posting all the great marketing info - I just schedule my professional Bellyfit photo shoot for next week so I have some good pics to promote my classes through my Facebook group etc. Stoked!

One thing that has helped me build participation in my classes in my small rural community in Christina Lake, BC is the personal invitation

A personal invitation is when you verbally invite someone to your class. I find verbal invites have more pull than email or facebook messages. You don't need the person to answer yes or no in the moment, just put it out there that you are teaching Bellyfit classes and you are stoked because it's a great workout for women, improves posture, increases self acceptance (or say here why you love Bellyfit)  and you think this person would love it because you know they like exercise, or they are improving their health, because the music and the moves are so good (or say here why you feel it would benefit this person).

Here are some more example I say to people when extending a personal invite:

Bellyfit is accessible to many women, no matter their fitness level or experience. This is because the moves can be low or high impact, there is a good warm up, and after the cardio a very good core strength and stretch.

Bellyfit is not about getting a flat belly, it's about learning how to love yourself.

Bellyfit is great for improving posture, core strength, and cardio endurance.

Studies show that dancing together with other people in choreography helps to improve your mood more than just dancing or working out by yourself.

In Bellyfit there is great music that will get even your grandma dancing!

I hope this helps :)

Let me know if you have any questions about my post.

I love the banner links, great way to promote at trade shows and fairs. etc. I too like the idea of having access to templates so we can source out our own printing options (if it is a better price point) As for marketing your classes, I have found offering in more than one location has been helpful to me in my small town. Eg.Community rec, local college, yoga studios)

Thank you so much Stephanie,

I love your approach on personal invite.

I live in a big complex which has lots of people so my thought was to reach out to the ladies here and invite them. Do you think it would be invasive to knock on their door and ask if there are perhaps any ladies that stay there as I would like to share with them about a beautiful exercise program in the community and see if they would be interested in coming to give it a try out. Would I then hand them a flyer.

I know that things are winding down as we heading closer to December and I want to really market it for the new year so any suggestions on how I build up the hype towards the new year and new beginnings. I know there is a small window period for one to get in when everyone has set new goals for the new year.

Thanks again for your time and sharing your valuable information with. Much appreciated.

Mandy
